    • Begin today, finish for homework: Choose a word or phrase in English that you find interesting, odd, or funny. Research the history of the word: its first appearance in the language and changes in its meaning. In an informative essay, explain your research. Use a mixture of scholarly diction, familiar diction, and idiomatic expressions. Cite your sources.
